Management of wastes

'Management of wastes' is one of the domains detailed in the Mauritius Strategy which relates to the concerns and activities of UNESCO. The present page is intended to provide a framework for those seeking information on UNESCO’s contribution to the implementation of the Mauritius Strategy.

UNESCO’s contribution to the ‘Management of wastes’ chapter in the Mauritius Strategy comes mainly though work on water resources within the framework of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) and the UNESCO International Centre for Water Education (UNESCO-IHE) in Delft (Netherlands). A primary regional focus is in the Pacific region, through cooperative partnerships with a range of bilateral, regional and international bodies. Waste management also figures in field projects associated with the UNESCO Platform on Small Island Developing States and more particularly with the cross-sectoral initiative on Youth Visioning for Island Living.
