International Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations, UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, France, 12-14 December 2012

The next International Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) will take place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris (France) from 12 to 14 December 2012. It will focus on “Culture and Cultures: reconciling universality and diversity”.

This Conference gathers all the non-governmental organizations in official partnership with UNESCO (371 Non-Governmental Organizations) with a view to review the state of cooperation with UNESCO, conduct collective consultations on the main lines of UNESCO’s programme, and facilitate cooperation between organizations having common interests.

It will mark an important new step in the longstanding cooperation between NGOs and UNESCO, and will be crucial for the tasks to be carried out together in the coming years.

Participants will be called upon to elect a new Chairperson for the Conference, as well as a new NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee. Please find attached the list of nominations for the Presidency and the list of nominations for the Liaison Committee.

Member States and Associate Members of UNESCO as well as Non-Member States may participate as observers in the Conference. Other NGOs may also attend as an observer without being entitled to vote.
