Following the invitation of the President of the Commission of the African Union, Mr Alpha Oumar Konaré the Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, was the special guest of the Sixth Ordinary Session of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (Khartoum, Sudan, on 23 and 24 January 2006), devoted to education and culture.
