HIV and AIDS

Exhibition - Unheard Voices, Hidden Lives

From 29-11-2007 to 04-12-2007 (France)

Exhibition - Unheard Voices, Hidden Lives

'Unheard Voices, Hidden Lives' is the result of a wider project involving people living with HIV in Cambodia, Ecuador, and India. The experiences of people living at the frontiers of the global HIV epidemic are all too often unheard and unseen. The individuals in this project – people living with HIV, men who have sex with men, and sex workers – invite us to share, in their own images and words, their experiences, hopes, and fears of living in a world irreversibly touched by HIV.

During workshops organized by the International HIV/AIDS Alliance and Photovoice through the Frontiers Prevention Project, participants received cameras and photographic training. With their new equipment and knowledge, they used photography to tell the story of their lives and those of their communities.

Other photography projects with a similar participatory focus will be presented during the exhibition, thus illustrating the diversity of ways in which arts and creativity can meaningfully responding to HIV and AIDS.
