HIV and AIDS

Theatre training manual for Maghreb countries

HIV & AIDS prevention and tackling discrimination are priority actions for UNESCO.

Working with UNFPA Morocco, UNESCO Rabat has, under its 'jeunes et compétences psychosociales' programme, adapted the UNFPA training manual on theatre techniques and the use of peer education.

Theatre training manual for Maghreb countries

Emphasizing a participative approach, the training manual provides a series of techniques and practical exercises which allow young peer educators in the Maghreb to use theatre as a way to prevent, and raise awareness about, HIV & AIDS and other reproductive health issues affecting young people.

Tested and validated by a group of young peer educators in the region (Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia), the printed manual is available Arabic and French and also has an accompanying DVD (which contains videos of interviews, reports, and theatre performances).
