Consultation on the role of higher education in HIV prevention in the Arab region

From 02-06-2009 to 02-06-2009 (Egypt) 

A regional consultation on the role of higher education in HIV prevention in the Arab states took place in Cairo, Egypt on June 2, 2009.

The purpose of the consultation, which involved higher education officials and experts from the region, was to highlight the role of higher education institutions in HIV prevention as well as to draft policy recommendations.

Organized by UNESCO Beirut’s Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab States in collaboration with UNESCO Amman, Cairo, Rabat and Khartoum, issues discussed included evidence-based research, curriculum development, teacher training, policies, cultural approaches and student services.

The consultation provided an opportunity for UNESCO to present EDUCAIDS to policy-makers in the region.
