UNESCO’s Strategy for HIV and AIDS in Latin America and the Caribbean

UNESCO’s Strategy for HIV and AIDS in Latin America and the Caribbean seeks to clearly articulate core actions for the UNESCO response in the region, building on past experience and UNESCO’s longstanding work in this area. It is synchronised with the vision, goals, objectives and principles of UNESCO’s Strategy for Responding to HIV and AIDS.

UNESCO’s Strategy for HIV and AIDS in Latin America and the Caribbean

The regional strategy provides an overview of HIV and AIDS in Latin America and the Caribbean, describes UNESCO’s response globally and in the region and outlines four regional priorities:

  • Coordinated and comprehensive responses;

  • Enhanced engagement and visibility;

  • Advocacy and strengthened political commitment;

  • Technical support and capacity enhancement.

This document is an update of a previous UNESCO strategy on HIV and AIDS for Latin America and the Caribbean that covered the period of 2004-2005.
