FRESH - Focusing Resources on Effective School Health

FRESH - Focusing Resources on Effective School Health

FRESH is an inter-agency initiative for Focusing Resources on Effective School Health. It proposes a framework for designing and implementing effective school health programmes - a 'boiling down' to basics of the partner agencies' combined experience in the area of school health.

Four core components:

  • School health policies;

  • Water, sanitation and the environment;

  • Skills-based health education;

  • School-based health services.

Three supporting strategies:
  • Partnerships between education and health;

  • Community partnerships;

  • Pupil awareness and participation.

The overall goal of FRESH is to make schools healthier for children, children more able to learn, and Education for All more likely to be achieved.

FRESH can be accessed on line by clicking here.

A CD-ROM toolkit version also exists, for off-line internet access.

  • Start date: 08-12-2003   End date: 08-12-2010
