Guidance Counselling and Youth Development Centre for Africa Computer Based Training

The CD-ROM contains a training programme on Guidance, Counselling and Youth Development for Africa adapted to computer based training. It can be used in pre- and in-service teacher training and for key education personnel for capacity building and in order to establish/strengthen Guidance and Counselling services in education systems. The programme has special focus on gender sensitivity and HIV and AIDS. It uses innovative participatory methods and has emphasis on behavioural change as well as empathic and non-judgemental interaction. Launched in 1996 the training now reaches 28 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and is coordinated by the Guidance, Counselling and Youth Development Centre in Lilongwe, Malawi. The modules exist in English and French (that are culturally adapted and therefore different to those in English).
