HIV Prevention and Care for Migrants and Ethnic Minorities Communities in China and in Mongolia

The project aims to improve access to HIV prevention, care and support for migrants and ethnic minority communities in China and Mongolia.

Activities thus far include:
(1) Field research in the 5 pilot sites (Kunming, Chifeng, Chengdu, Ziyang and Longchuan), as well as in Unlaabantaar, Mongolia. Among the topics undertaken within the research, include need assessment of people living with HIV and a legal and policy review;

(2) Capacity building for social workers, local counterparts and local officials, on HIV prevention, reproductive health, education to migrants and ethnic minorities, human rights-based and gender responsive approaches.

(3) Participatory training and capacity building events for migrants and ethnic minorities. The training events aimed at strengthening HIV and AIDS related preventive awareness and skills, as well as promoting the protection of rights of people living with HIV.


Project Partners include the AIDS Policy Research Center (Tsinghua University, China) and the Mongolian National AIDS Foundation (NAF).
