The use of theatre in response to HIV and AIDS

Interactive theatre, if used correctly, can be a very powerful tool for behavioural change and transmiting information on HIV & AIDS.

The manual for theatre troupes entitled "AIDS and Theatre: How to use theatre to respond to HIV/AIDS" was developed by UNESCO to give practical guidance on how to use theatre in HIV & AIDS using participatory communication methods based on lessons-learned and the experiences of theatre groups in different geographical regions.

The manual was originally developed in French (Western Africa) and adapted and translated into both Arabic (developed in Morocco), Spanish (developed collaboratively in Guatemala and Mexico) and English (Eastern and Southern Africa).
