Status Autonomous
Legislation The National Commission was officially established by a Resolution of the Ministry of Education. In 2011, under the 18th amendment of constitution, the Ministry of Education is devolved, therefore Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO is shifted under Govt. office EAD.
Documentation Center The Documentation Centre of the National Commission gathers some relevant publications, the majority of them being UNESCO pubications, as well as periodicals.
A limited number of visitors come to consult the Documentation Centre.
Structure of Commission The National Commission consists of the following bodies:
* The Board of Governors which meets once a year.
* The Executive Committee which meets twice a year.
* The Advisory Committees, composed of high-level decision and policy makers and experts specialized in UNESCO's fields of competence.
* The Secretariat.
Members/Composition The National Commission is composed of some 30 members representing various governmental departments and academic institutions working in the fields of UNESCO's competence.

Interaction with UNESCO and National Commissions
 
Overview The National Commission has collaborated with the Australia, China, Iran, Republic of Korea, Nepal and Uzbekistan National Commissions and maintains regular working relations with the UNESCO Field Offices, Regional offices in Bangkok and Jakarta.

  • Feedback to Teacher Standards

    The Ministry of Education, with the cooperation of UNESCO and the financial support of USAID, has developed National Professional Standards for Teachers in Pakistan. These standards frame a vision of the qualifications Pakistan expects of its teachers.
