Interparliamentary Conference of the Latin American and Caribbean Region

With a view to forging a stronger partnership with parliamentarians in associating them more closely with the implementation of its programmes, UNESCO organized in cooperation with the Latin American Parliament, in Sao Paulo, on 13 and 14 September 2007, the Interparliamentary Conference of the Latin American and Caribbean Region.

The conference addressed five UNESCO priority themes: (i) Education for All, (ii) International conventions, (iii) Access to water, (iv) Promotion of human rights and democracy and (v) Access to information and knowledge. An introductory session was dedicated to mechanisms of partnership with parliamentarians.

As outcomes, the participants adopted a Declaration.
