Official visit to UNESCO Headquarters of a high level delegation of the Commission of the African Union headed by its Chairperson Professor Alpha-Oumar Konaré from 13 to 16 May 2005.
 

At the end of a working session that was held from 13 to 16 May, between Commissioners of the African Union and the Heads of the different programme sectors of UNESCO, Alpha-Oumar Konaré, Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union and Koïchiro Matsuura, Director-General of UNESCO, decided to sign, in the near future, a new cooperation agreement which would update the one signed between UNESCO and the Organization of African Unity in 1968.
