Ballet organized in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the First Manned Mission to Space
To underline the importance of music and dance as a catalyst for public awareness and dialogue, the Melody for Dialogue among Civilizations Association along with its partner organized and produced a ballet programme based on a dedicated composition by Andrew Kaiser (USA). Improvisations were made by the Boerte Group from Mongolia and Gua Gan from China for this contemporary music. The Prague Philharmonic Orchestra was led by Maestro Igor Vlajnic (Croatia). Nicola Ayoub, an American ballet dancer, joined the Russian Federation's artist to give rise to a unique programme dedicated to space explorations. Background video accompanied this programme and was produced by the Association based on contributions from NASA, the Paris-based Space Observatory and the Hubble Telescope. A documentary about Yuri Gagarin's flight was provided by the Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to UNESCO. More details: www.melodydialogue.org. An extensive exhibition depicting three major periods of space explorations was mounted by the Russian Federation and the Melody for Dialogue among Civilizations Association on this occasion.
