  • The First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs.Mehriban Aliyeva visits 'Elpida', the Association of Friends of Children with Cancer in Athens, Greece.

    11-05-2009 9:05 pm On 16 February 2009 and on the occasion of an official visit to Greece by the President of Azerbaijan, the First Lady of Azerbaijan and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Elpida (Hope), the Association for the Friends of Children with Cancer, established by another Goodwill Ambassador, Mrs.Marianna Vardinoyannis.Mrs Aliyeva and Mrs Vardinoyannis among children in the Elpida.JPG

    Greeting the children suffering from cancer, Mrs.Aliyeva stressed her immense pleasure to be among them and talked to each of patients about their dreams and talents.

    In the presence of Mrs.Vardinoyannis, the President ‘Elpida’, Mrs Aliyeva presented the children with gifts from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and assured their parents of the favourable outcome of the fight against cancer.

    Thanking everyone for the warm welcome and the interesting drawings painted by the children, Mrs.Aliyeva noted her wish to co-operate more closely with the Elpida Association in the future.
