The internationally-known French entrepreneur and co-founder of the Yves Saint Laurent fashion group Pierre Bergé embraced UNESCO's cause in 1993 when he was appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. He is a generous art patron and finances several journals and talented writers.
His actions in favour of human rights and of the fight against AIDS have been unfaltering. As president of Ensemble contre le Sida (Together against AIDS), he is an advocate, fund-raiser and spokesperson for the rights of people with HIV/AIDS.
