Education for All (EFA)-Fast Track Initiative Working Group
UNAIDS IATT on Education Working Group
Objective
This working group began with an initial assessment aiming to:
- Determine the extent to which the education sector plans of the newly endorsed FTI countries address HIV and AIDS and assess progress since the last review in integrating HIV and AIDS in the 12 initial country plans. This analysis can include recommendations on strengthening the FTI endorsement process with regards to HIV and AIDS if the consultants deem this is lacking.
- Make recommendations on how the FTI can support the mainstreaming of HIV and AIDS within education during the implementation of the FTI education plans.
Additional work underway aims to deepen this partnership by reviewing upcoming proposals, the guidelines and template for endorsement, and providing support to upcoming countries for FTI endorsement.
Working Group Tasks
- Analyse the extent to which the education sector plans of the newly endorsed FTI countries address HIV and AIDS;
- Support FTI partners to mainstream HIV in education sector plans through IATT Mainstreaming Toolkit and through partnership with UNGEI and other agencies to address equity issues in ESPs;
- Review upcoming endorsed FTI proposals to ensure HIV is addressed;
- Provide support to upcoming countries for FTI endorsement;
- Review guidelines and template for endorsement.
