Quality education

Quality education

    A primary goal of EDUCAIDS is to achieve coverage of quality education on HIV and AIDS at a national scale.

    Quality HIV and AIDS education embodies a number of cross-cutting principles, including:

    • Rights-based, learner-centred and inclusive;

    • Gender-responsive;

    • Scientifically accurate;

    • Culturally sensitive;

    • Age-specific;

    • Delivered in safe and secure learning environments;

    • Focused on and tailored to various groups, including vulnerable populations; and

    • Promotes the involvement of people living with HIV and AIDS.

    Access to educational opportunities is widely recognized as an effective means for reducing vulnerability of children and young people to HIV. UNESCO supports efforts to ensure that all learners are reached with relevant and appropriate learning opportunities of good quality.
