Intangible Heritage

An increasingly important component of tourism is the oral and intangible heritage, including music, languages, oral traditions and the performing arts. UNESCO’s actions to promote cultural diversity, plurilinguism and tolerance all serve to lessen the risk of standardization of culture, and provide a basis for the proposed development of a convention to protect this form of heritage.
