HIV positive teachers and World Teachers Day

From 03-10-2008 to 03-10-2008 (Zimbabwe) 

Representatives from Zimbabwe Teachers Unions and Associations met on World Teachers' Day and highlighted how HIV and AIDS is one of the key challenges facing the teaching profession.

UNESCO's Harare Cluster Office participated in the meeting, advocating for the recognition of the rights of HIV positive teachers and the creation of supportive environments.

UNESCO was able to showcase a variety of materials, including

• UNESCO's Strategy for Responding to HIV and AIDS;


• Technical Consultation Report for Supporting HIV Positive Teachers in East and Southern Africa; and


• materials from the EDUCAIDS resource pack
