Sexuality education for young people

UNESCO highlighted its competencies in the area of sexuality education at a recent Asia regional workshop on programming for young people, organized by UNFPA.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to identify ways in which agencies could collaborate and engage with government, youth and civil society partners to advance the sexual health and education needs of young people in the region. There were over 65 participants including UNFPA staff, government representatives, civil society partners and young people from 9 countries in the region (Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Timor Leste and Viet Nam). UNESCO’s contribution drew on recent resources including the International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education; Levers of Success: Case Studies of National Sexuality Education Programmes; and programme experience in China, Thailand, Viet Nam and countries in other regions of the world.
