Protection of the underwater heritage in the Caribbean

The second UNESCO Foundation Course on the Protection and Management of Underwater Cultural Heritage for the Caribbean States will be held from November 17 to December 13, 2014, in St Eustatius. The Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands, the Nexus 1492-Heritage research project in the Caribbean organize the training, in collaboration with the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean in Havana, the UNESCO Kingston Cluster Office for the Caribbean and the UNESCO Office in Haiti.

The course is addressed to participants who are working professionally in the field of (underwater or maritime) archaeology, conservation and cultural heritage protection. Candidates are required to have an internationally valid dive qualification. Their candidatures will be reviewed by a panel of experts in order to ensure the level of expertise required for this training. The course will be held in English.

Interested participants should address their candidatures with their CV, diving and medical certificate to their respective National Commissions for UNESCO and to the UNESCO Offices in Kingston, Port-Au-Prince and Havana.
