  • Biography of Her Royal Highness Princess Firyal
  • H.R.H. Princess Firyal was born in Jerusalem

  • In 1967 H.R.H. became involved in relief work in refugee camps and started and chaired the Society of Rural Development in Jordan, where some of it's aims were to wipe out illiteracy, and set up family planning programmes, and to encourage local handicrafts, its production and marketing and all aspects of rural life

  • H.R.H. is an ardent fundraiser and has assisted in a wide variety of Educational and Cultural programmes and projects in Jordan and abroad

  • The Princess is serving on the Advisory Broad of Directors of the B.U.C. and an University in Canada

  • H.R.H. took part in the Creative Arts Team "C.A.T." Seminar in New York University, its first ever, for Jordanians, Palestinians and Israeli actors who worked together in a summer camp for the first joint co-operative effort in support of the peace process. She got involved in the "Crossing the Bridge" programme as well as other peace related ones

  • The Princess frequently visits, and as required, homeless and Street Children shelters in New York, and other cities in the US, and has visited and co-operated with "The Children's Health Funds" in New York, their mobile medical units. H.R.H. also visited Barretstown Camp in Ireland, which is a summer camp for terminally ill children from all over the world, which was founded by the American actor Paul Newman, to help in all areas of possible collaboration with the "International Hope Foundation"

  • H.R.H. gives talks regularly at the "Institute du Monde Arabe" in Paris, France, on the problems facing women such as her, brought up in a conservative Muslim atmosphere. She is very concern with the issue and she talks extensively and frequently about it

  • The Princess is a keen painter and learned it by herself, and she is interested in gardening and environmental issues, and medical research

  • H.R.H. entered Columbia University in the fall of 1997 and graduated with a degree in American History in 1999

  • The Princess was appointed, in October 1999, as a member of the International Committee of the "Musses des Arts Decoratifs" in Paris, France. She was elected as a Director of the International Rescue Committee in March 2000 and during the same year H.R.H. became a member of the Dean's Council of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University

  • The Princess was elected to the Board of the United Nations Association in March 2003

  • In May 2003, the Princess accepted a seat on the Chairman's Council of the Museum of Modern Art in New York

  • During a briefing meeting held on 14 September 2004 at UNESCO Headquarters, the Director-General confered to HRH the mission of promoting the "Education for All" initiative
