Catalogue of astronomical, astrological and mathematical manuscripts

A collection of about 1300 works on astronomy in three languages (Turkish, Persian and Arabic) held in the Library of Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute at Bogaziçi University in Istanbul.

Lost memory: libraries and archives destroyed in the twentieth century

The present document, prepared within the framework of the “Memory of the World” Programme, under contract with ICA and IFLA, by J. van Albada and H. van der Hoeven, is an attempt to list major disasters that have destroyed or caused irreparable damage during this century to libraries and archives, whether written or audiovisual.

The present document, prepared under contract with the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), by Jan Lyall, National Library of Australia, is part of a series of inventories being compiled, so that UNESCO can play its role to the full as coordinator and catalyst of the Memory of the World Programme.
