UNESCO Chair in Population, Migrations and Development (831), established in 2008 at the Sapienza University of Rome (Italy).

Population, migrations and development.

Objectives

The main specific objectives of this Chair are to :

  • produce a better understanding on how to improve good governance in the field of population issues and international migrations with reference to the respect of human rights of migrants, as well as to their potential for the development of both sending and host countries;
  • exchange information on policies that best respond to the challenges of inclusion in increasingly multicultural and transnational societies; and
  • design a new strategic approach for development, migrations and populations involving relevant disciplines in order to prepare the international community to address the future challenges raised by human mobility in the next decades.
