Regional Ministerial Meeting “Education for All in Latin America and the Caribbean: Post-2015 Assessment and Challenges”

The 2015 deadline is rapidly approaching. The UNESCO Member States are performing a critical review of Education for All (EFA) and its progress in each country in order to assess its achievements and lessons learned, so that the future global education agenda can make significant advancement towards guaranteeing the Right to Education for All.
UNESCO’s priority is to support countries in accelerating their progress towards the EFA goals, to collect information in order to assess the efforts made, and to report on the key challenges in the debate on the education agenda. These efforts will come to light at the 2015 World Education Forum to be held in May 2015 in South Korea, which will showcase the global achievements and shortfalls since 2000. At this Forum, participants will establish a new global education programme, with new goals and challenges.
Latin America and the Caribbean is part of this process, and this is why the Regional Ministerial Meeting “Education for All in Latin America and the Caribbean: Post-2015 Assessment and Challenges” will be a space for dialogue among Ministers in order to analyse the region’s progress towards the 2015 EFA goals. It is expected that the meeting participants will reach agreements on the challenges and priorities for the post-2015 education agenda, considering the socioeconomic and demographic transformations faced by the region.
This meeting’s recommendations will contribute the regional perspective to be included in the post-2015 education agenda, a document to be debated and approved by the UNESCO Member States in South Korea.
The regional meeting has been organised thanks to collaboration between OREALC/UNESCO Santiago and the Peruvian Ministry of Education.
