Normative Action - Emergency Situations

Create a normative framework for States in post-conflict situations

In line with its action for heritage and its reconstruction in emergency situations, UNESCO is particularly committed to ensuring the application and/or ratification of the 1954 Hague Convention and its two Protocols, through activities devoted to awareness-raising, negotiation and training.

The Organization's standard-setting action in this area is based on UNESCO Declaration concerning the Intentional Destruction of Cultural Heritage, the Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage, in addition to the 1972 World Heritage Convention and the 2003 Convention devoted to intangible heritage.

1. Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict

2. Natural Disasters
