Radio-Télévision & Changement Climatique: une mission de service public

Conférence internationale de l'UNESCO -- Radio-Télévision & Changement Climatique: une mission de service public

UNESCO will host a high-level international conference in September this year to highlight the public service remit of broadcast media in raising public awareness of climate change. National broadcasters from both developing and developed countries will come together with regional broadcasting unions, key international broadcasting associations, scientific organizations and climate-related agencies to examine the major perspectives on climate change today. Delegates will assess the needs and capacities of broadcasters to disseminate content on this subject, and will explore ways of improving access to quality information on the subject, as well as potential modalities for making resources and training programmes available to media professionals.

Organized in partnership with UNEP, the Conference will provide a platform for regional and international collaboration to offer solutions to existing challenges faced by broadcasters, particularly those in developing countries. Such collaboration will to empower national broadcasters to fulfil their role in making climate change processes and related mitigation and adaptation options better understood by their audiences.
