Katherine Müller-Marin is Representative of UNESCO in Viet Nam and head of the UNESCO Ha Noi office. She was previously UNESCO Representative to Peru.

Prior to joining UNESCO, Ms. Müller-Marin worked for the Pan American Health Organization, UNDP, the World Bank, Interamerican Development Bank, the Organization of American States, the National Center for State Courts and USAID funded programs in public sector reform.

A native of Costa Rica, Ms. Müller-Marin began her career as the Curriculum Planning Director at the Distance Teaching University of Costa Rica. She went on to serve her government at the Costa Rican Ministry of Planning and Economic Policy in Institutional Strengthening and Reengineering. She holds a Master’s degree in Competitive Enterprises Management and a Doctorate Honoris Causa in Education.

Sun Lei joined UNESCO Viet Nam in August 2011 as the Education Sector Coordinator. She was previously Education Programme Specialist for the Phnom Penh office and began working for UNESCO in 2000 as a National Programme Officer for Education in the Beijing office.

Ms. Lei started her career in education in 1987 at the Chinese Ministry of Education's National Research Centre for Educational Development where she focused on education policy research and comparative education. She earned her M.A. in English and M.A. in Literature from Beijing University.

Duong Bich Hanh joined UNESCO in September 2009 as the Viet Nam office’s Culture Programme Coordinator. She has worked and consulted for a number of multilateral and bilateral organizations and NGOs including Oxfam, ADB, the World Bank, UNDP and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is a founder of Craft Link, a Vietnamese not-for-profit organization that supports handicrafts activities among marginalized and vulnerable communities, and serves on its Steering Committee.

Ms. Hanh holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Washington (USA). Her research topics include tourism and ethnic minorities in Viet Nam, Vietnamese migrants in Laos, Vietnamese sex workers in China and access to primary health care in rural Viet Nam.

Hoang Minh Nguyet joined UNESCO Viet Nam in November 2010 as the office’s first Communication and Information Programme Coordinator. Ms. Nguyet was previously Deputy Director General in charge of editorial policy for the national radio programme “Voice of Viet Nam”.

Ms. Nguyet started her career as a program producer and presenter at the Overseas Service and afterward worked as Director of the International Cooperation Department. She holds a degrees from Brighton University and the Ha Noi Academy of Journalism and Communication.
