As a State Party to the World Heritage Convention, Cape Verde is now drawing up its Tentative List of four cultural sites, one natural site and one mixed site, with a view to their inscription on the World Heritage List.

In the field of intangible heritage, the country hopes to implement a plan to safeguard the Tabanka.

The UNESCO-WTO programme of cultural tourism along the Slave Route led to the publication of a brochure on sites of memory of the slave trade and slavery in Portuguese-speaking countries.

UNESCO—Cape Verde cooperation also focuses on the sustainable development of cultural tourism.
