The country is covered by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

There are two biosphere reserves in the Central African Republic: Bamingui-Bangoran, composed mainly of dry tropical forests, and Basse-Lobaye, a tropical humid forest area. Biosphere reserves are sites recognized under the Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) which innovate and demonstrate approaches to conservation and sustainable development.
