The Union of the Comoros attaches the highest importance to the Slave Route in the Indian Ocean and is availing of the project to collect traces of the oral heritage in so far as it relates to slavery and the slave trade.

The country has begun to draw up an inventory of its cultural and national heritage with a view to proposing a Tentative List to the World Heritage Center.

Comoros is also preparing a dossier for the proclamation of one of its cultural expressions as a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage.

The country is aware of the value of cultural tourism and is making efforts to orient its policies and to train tourist professionals.
