Guinea has one site on the World Heritage List. Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve is a transborder site with Côte d'Ivoire. Guinea is working with UNESCO to ensure that this site is removed from the List of World Heritage in Danger.
In the field of intangible heritage, the cultural space of the Sosso-Bala was proclaimed a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2001. In order to preserve and encourage the transmission of this musical tradition, a safeguarding project has been launched.
Concerning intercultural dialogue, Guinea actively participates in the Slave Route Project and the network of sites and places of memory related to the slave trade. It also collaborates in the preparation of the publication series, "The General History of Africa".
In the framework of the Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity in support of cultural industries, the country is establishing policies related to books and reading, based on respect for literary and artistic property.
