The country hosts the Regional Bureau for Science in Africa, located in Nairobi, which is also the Cluster Office to Burundi, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda.

Kenya is one of the countries in the world where fluoride occurs in the highest concentrations, not only in the soil, but also in surface and groundwater resources. Consequently water-related issues and management are at the heart of the country's collaboration with UNESCO.

It is presently participating in several earth science projects, one of which focuses exclusively on the formation of the East African rift system, a geological formation of central importance to Kenya’s own geological identity. There are several Biosphere Reserve through which the varied wildlife and ecosystems are protected and studied.

Below you can access the projects that are currently being implemented in the country within the framework of UNESCO’s Natural Sciences Sector.
