Documentation Centre | The Documentation Centre mainly holds documents and publications of UNESCO and other governmental institutions, NGOs, research institutes and libraries. The Centre, which is computerized, welcomes some 4500 visitors each year mainly coming from academic circles (mostly students, professors and researchers). |

Members/Composition | The National Commission is composed of members representing ministries, research organizations and institutions, NGO's, Parliament, the media, UNESCO Clubs and prominent personalities active in the educational, scientific and cultural fields. |
Executive Committee | Composed of 10 members, including the Chairperson of the National Commission, the Secretary-General, the Vice-Minister in Charge of Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the plenipotentiary representative of the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the plenipotentiary representative of Minister of Education, the plenipotentiary representative of the IRIB, the Director General for International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Head of the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, and a scientific-cultural member of the High Council. The Executive Council meets once a year.

General Assembly | As the most important decision-making body, the High Council is composed of
14 members, including the Minister of Science, Research and Technology, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the Minister of Education, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary-General, the Head of the Department of Environment, the Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, and seven scientific and cultural personalities. The High Council meets twice a year.

Interaction with UNESCO and National Commissions |
Overview | The Iranian National Commission co-operates with many National Commissions at the sub-regional and regional levels. It is also actively involved in collaborative efforts with the UNESCO Field Offices in New Delhi, Tehran and Bangkok as well as with the Asian Cultural Centre for UNESCO in Tokyo (ACCU, Japan) in the implementation of joint projects in UNESCO’s fields of competence and in relevant exchanges of programmes. |
