Documentation Centre | The official charged with the responsibilities of the Secretary General is responsible for opening and disseminating all UNESCO in-coming mail. Publications/Press Releases/Newsletters are deposited to a special UNESCO Section at the library of the Tonga Institute of Education, and/or distributed to relevant agencies if there are multiple copies. Reports and other important documents are kept at the National Commission Office. |
Structure of the Commission | The Commission is an agency within the Ministry of Education. The President shall be either the Minister of Education, or, if the Minister so decides, a person recommended by him and approved by Cabinet. The Minister has the authority also to appoint a Vice-President and not less than 7 members representing educational, scientific, cultural and information governmental and non-governmental institutions, departments and bodies for a two-year period with the consent of Cabinet.
The Commission shall meet at least two times a year and more often at the discretion of the Minister of Education. It could also meet at the convocation of the President of the Commission or on the request of the majority of its members with the approval of the Minister of Education.

Sub-Committees of the Commission may be established by the Commission to carry out studies and research work on related activities of UNESCO or other matters as deemed necessary by the Commission. |
