Keenly interested in safeguarding heritage, Armenia organized an interregional conference on the subject in 2001. The country has three sites on the World Heritage List and its Tentative List is currently being documented.

The music of the duduk, an Armenian wind instrument, was proclaimed a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005.
Armenia also works with UNESCO and various donors to examine the manner in which culture can be used to stimulate economic and social development.
Armenia is involved in a training programme for the protection of cultural heritage in Southern Caucasus and Central Asia.
In the field of intercultural dialogue, the country is a partner in the Caucasus Programme.
