With four cultural sites on the World Heritage List, Slovakia also has an extensive Tentative List. One of its inscribed sites, Spissky Hrad, received specific attention because stone quarries and new roads in the area threatened to damage the site. The issue is currently under study.

Slovakia participates in work projects on cultural landscapes in Eastern Europe.
In the field of intangible heritage, the instrument known as the Fujara and its music were proclaimed a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005.
Regarding arts and cultural enterprise, Slovakia hosts training sessions for illustrators with UNESCO’s support and has founded a chair in cultural policies and arts management at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava.
