Structure of the CommissionThe National Commission consists of the following bodies:
- The General Assembly, which meets 8 times a year;
- The Executive Committee (composed of two members), which meets three to four times a year;
- There are 4 sub-committees (education, science, culture, communication)
- The Secretariat
Members/CompositionAs a governmental body, the National Commission comprises 12 members appointed by the Government for a period of four years (current members from 1st January 2011 till the 31st December 2014) and representing the scientific community, media sector, stakeholders responsible for schools and culture, political parties that have seat in the standing committies of the Parliament and youth organizations
Executive CommitteeThere is a small Executive Committee chair and vice chair from the Commission
General AssemblyThe Commission, which has a maximum of 12 members, meets in full 6 times per annum.
Committees or Sub-CommitteesThe Commission has an education committee - primarily for Education for All 2000. It consists of about four members drawn from the Commission.
Interaction with UNESCO and National Commissions
OverviewThe Swedish National Commission closely collaborates with National Commissions of Nordic countries as well as other European and developing countries. It participates in the regular meetings of 5 Nordic National Commissions in preparation for the General Conference.
