The country is covered by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Kingston, Jamaica.

The UNESCO initiatives the Bahamas participate in focus on issues relating to oceans, coastal areas and small islands.

One such initiative is the Caribbean Coastal Productivity Programme (CARICOMP), a regional programme that aims to contribute to integrated coastal management by determining the factors that regulate productivity of the main coastal ecosystems in the Caribbean and assessing the nature and influence of land-sea interactions.
