Indonesia joined UNESCO on May 27, 1950. The country is covered by the UNESCO Office Jakarta, a cluster office which also serves as the Regional Bureau for Science.
Indonesia holds one UNESCO Chair and is home to one UNEVOC centre. As of September 2006, Indonesia has 69 schools participating in UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet).
