On the request of the Pakistani Government, one of these sites, the Fort and Shalimar Gardens, was placed on the List of World Heritage in Danger. An action plan was elaborated for its restoration and conservation. Past cooperation between Pakistan and UNESCO resulted in the preservation of the site of Moenjodaro and the Gandhara Buddhist monuments.
In the field of living heritage, this country embarked upon an inventory of the intangible cultural heritage of Baloutchistan, in collaboration with the UNESCO Office in Islamabad.
As regards creative industries, Pakistan encourages its craftspeople through the Seal of Excellence programme.
In the framework of the programme on Intercultural Dialogue in Central Asia, it is a member of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies, which aims to encourage intellectual cooperation between Member States of the region.
