Culture

Czech Republic

The Czech Republic, which is represented on the World Heritage List by twelve cultural sites, has drawn up a Tentative List containing many properties it would like to recommend for inscription

Two of the twelve cultural sites, the historic centres of Český Krumlov and Prague, are threatened by flooding, a phenomenon related to climate change. The Czech Republic is working with UNESCO to elaborate a management plan to combat this threat.

In the field of intangible heritage, the national authorities have established a system of Living Human Treasures, one of which, the Slovácko Verbuňk Recruit Dances, was proclaimed a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005.
