Denmark has three cultural sites and one natural sites on the World Heritage List. Ilulissat Icefjord is one of the sites threatened by climate change. Denmark is particularly active in matters regarding heritage.

It is a member of the international network on cultural policy and has demonstrated its commitment to cultural cooperation with UNESCO by ratifiying the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
