Culture

Israel

Israel has five cultural sites inscribed on the World Heritage List. Its Tentative List contains numerous properties it hopes to recommend for inscription.

Along with Brasilia, Chandigarh and Le Havre, Tel Aviv, which represents a synthesis of the various modernist tendencies in the field of architecture and town planning of the early twentieth century, was the subject of an international symposium devoted to the architectural and urban heritage of the last century.

Israel and UNESCO also work together in the field of interfaith dialogue. In 2000, a UNESCO Chair in intercultural and interrelgious dialogue was created at the University of Haifa.
