Pacific Islands Museum Association's website launched

PIMA website as a plat form for Pacific museum community

The new website of the Pacific Islands Museum Association (PIMA) has been launced on 15 July 2010.

PIMA is a regional non-governmental organisation based in Vanuatu that assists Pacific museums, cultural centres and experts to preserve and promote Pacific Islands heritage, arts and culture. Since its establishment in 1994, PIMA has been undertaking activities in the field of museum development, establishing a network among Pacific islands museums.

The new website launched with the support of UNESCO aims at strengthening PIMA's information and communication activities and enhancing the visibility of Pacific cultures in particular those in small islands states and territories. It is also expected to serve as a platform for regional cooperation in the field of culture.
