L’Union des Comores a adhéré à l’UNESCO le 22 mars 1977. Le pays est couvert par le Bureau de l’UNESCO de Dar es-Salaam, en Tanzanie.
Le pays abrite un centre UNEVOC et, à septembre 2006, comptait deux écoles membres du Réseau des Ecoles associées (RéSEAU).
