UNESCO: United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization

Natural Sciences

  • Nosy Ve, Madagascar

The country is covered by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

In 2000, a solar village pilot project was launched in Ampasina Maningory. Electricity was thus supplied to the Town Hall, a primary school, a secondary school and for public lighting.

Future goals include installing a refrigerator for vaccinations and medicines in the health centre and using this village as a renewable energy training centre.

A Youth Visioning for Island Living initiative allows school children in Madagascar to learn about how their actions impact the environment through implementing activities to clean up their school.

Madagascar is also supporting the Regional School on Integrated Management of Tropical Forests and Territories (ERAIFT), located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Below you can access the projects that are currently being implemented in the country within the framework of UNESCO’s Natural Sciences Sector.
