Israel

Israel is involved in initiatives focusing on desertification control, natural disaster reduction and monitoring sea level change. It is also contributing to many earth sciences projects.

- Professor Adad YONATH, (Israel). L'Oréal-UNESCO Laureate 2008 for Europe. For her structural studies of the protein biosynthesis system and its disruption by antibiotics. Professor Yonath made many crucial insights and developed innovative techniques that led to determining the structure of ribosomes, the site site of protein biosynthesis in living cells.
